The Careers and Employment Service is part of the Student Success Unit and committed to ensure the provision of excellent service and proactive outreach to employers, students, graduates and other elements within the University. This position is based at Nathan campus however, the successful applicant will be required to travel across campuses from time to time.

The opportunity

The Career Development Consultant will contribute to the development and implementation of career development programs and services for students from diverse backgrounds, to assist with increasing the employability and employment outcomes of Griffith students and graduates.

Our services are delivered within the academic curriculum, online, in person, via telephone or through seminars and events. This position requires close collaboration with academic staff members to deliver career education support that is embedded and assessed within curriculum.

An important part of the role is to build effective relationships with stakeholders and partners including: Academic Course Convenors, Curriculum Consultants, Graduate Employers, Graduate Recruitment Consultants, Professional Associations, Industry Mentors and staff within the Careers and Employment Service and in other parts of the University.

This is a fixed term (until 31 December 2019), part time (50%) position based at the Gold Coast campus

About you

You will be a professionally qualified and experienced professional with proven competence and experience in providing career interventions (ie. career counselling / career decision making / job search strategies / networking / interview coaching / career assessments / consultations and seminars) regarding career choice, career development and graduate employability.

You will have postgraduate qualifications and be eligible for membership with the Careers Industry Council of Australia (CICA) and the National Association of Graduate Career Advisory Services (NAGCAS).

As this position requires presenting to students both online and in person you will have highly developed communication, marketing and IT skills for delivery to a diverse range of audiences, including the ability to initiate, develop, conduct and evaluate seminars, and contribute to online approaches to delivering services to students.

You will have a great interest in sharing best graduate recruitment practices in designing and delivering career development seminars both online, in person and in the classroom. Your knowledge of graduate recruitment practices and connections within the graduate recruitment industry will be highly valued

Salary range

HEW Level 8: $94,767 - $106,610 (pro rata) per annum, plus superannuation.
