Assistant Vice President of Development
The George Washington University Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Development, George Washington School of Business.
DAR is responsible for leading the university’s alumni and fundraising efforts and seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients and other friends. Our goal is to advance GWs mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.
Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President of Development, this position:
This central position leads the development and advancement strategy for a school or portfolio, and works with top school and development leadership to develop and execute annual and long-term development plans. This role creates philanthropic strategies and partners with staff, alumni, and external constituents to fulfill campaign goals. In partnership with top leadership, this role creates a strategic plan that includes ambitious and realistic goal-setting for fundraising, plans to enhance alumni relations, and plans for the establishment of programs for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of top-tier prospects. This position manages a pool of about 70 major and principal gift prospects capable of making seven and eight figure philanthropic gifts. This is a management position at the university that, in addition to leading a work unit, leads and supervises staff directly, makes hiring decisions, provides coaching, training and mentoring, manages performance and determines future staffing needs.
