Responsibilities*

Delivering instruments to cubicles. Acquire additional instruments, equipment and materials for students. Provide assistance to undergraduate dental students with certain chair side activities (charting, rubber dam placement, mixing material, amalgam placement). Disinfecting cubicles in undergraduate clinics. Setting up cubicle barriers (A.M. only). Assist with infection control monitoring of faculty, students and staff along with quality assurance processes in clinic.Assist with clinic cubicle stocking each Wednesday P.M. Assist with weekly cleaning/flushing of dental chair suction lines. Assist with maintaining laboratory areas in between blue and green clinics.

Required Qualifications*

Previous experience as a dental assistant.  Some knowledge of dental materials, dental instruments and dental equipment.  Some knowledge of blood borne pathogens standard and basic principles of infection control. Ability to perform a wide range of physical activity that includes moving and transporting objects; assuming postures to access patients, equipment, and instruments; and manual dexterity movements.  Ability to follow instructions from supervisor.   Excellent customer skills including the ability to anticipate needs of student dentists in clinic for instruments, equipment and commodities for dental procedures performed in clinic.  Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to work as a team member.  Excellent attention to detail. Excellent ability to multitask. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent attendance record.

Desired Qualifications*

A certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program. BLS certification.

Work Locations

This position is for the School of Dentistry located at 1011 N University.
