Research Associate

The Senior Gene Therapy Post-Doctoral Research Associate will be responsible for developing novel gene therapies for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTF). The Post holder will be responsible for supervising the design and manufacture of Adenovirus Associated Virus (AAV) vectors expressing a variety of supplementary and inhibitory genes targeting specific gene mutations and disease-critical pathways. They will optimise the gene delivery methodologies, transduction efficiency and target engagement in vitro and in vivo using a variety of molecular and cellular techniques under the supervision of Professor Christopher Shaw and Dr Younbok Lee.

The post holder will be educated to post-doctoral level and will have extensive experience of cloning, molecular biology, viral vector design, cell culture, in vivo transduction and immunohistochemistry. They will be someone who takes pride in providing a high standard of biological research to support the Principal Investigator and their research team.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 12 months.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent
