The Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC) in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is now accepting applications for a Pharmacist in the hospital’s Pharmacy. LVMC provides specialized care and comprehensive medical and surgical services for companion, equine, and food animals throughout Iowa and surrounding states. Our clinicians, residents, interns, technicians, staff, and senior veterinary students work in teams to provide 24-hour, state of the art care.
This position will be responsible for providing distributive and clinical services surrounding the preparation, delivery, and administration of medications to inpatients and outpatients. This includes, but is not limited to, duties expected in both retail and hospital pharmacy settings. Additionally the incumbent will be responsible for dispensing of prescription orders for hospital inpatients and clinic outpatients of both the Small Animal Hospital and Large Animal Hospital, entering/verifying prescription data into the computer system and verifying accuracy and appropriateness of order, compounding of special request orders, both sterile and non-sterile, pulling floor stock requests for hospital units, and serving as a drug information resource to hospital staff, clients, faculty, residents, interns and veterinary technicians.
