Associate / Assistant Professor in Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Science and Technology invites applications for the position of Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in the following disciplines:

  • Statistics related areas, including Data Mining, Statistics Learning, or Nonparametric Statistics; Applied Statistics related areas, including Design and Analysis of Experiments, Data-driven Sampling Methods, Applied Regression Analysis, or Programming in Statistics.

Currently, there are 17 faculty members in the Department of Mathematics. Their research areas include Probability and Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, etc. The department offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD degree programmes. The BSc degree program includes two streams: Mathematics and Applications and Statistics and Data Science. The Department is also responsible for the mathematics courses for the engineering programs of various engineering departments in the Faculty of Science and Technology, and the general education programme. 

Qualifications
The candidates must have an earned PhD degree in related areas. Preference will be given to candidates with extensive research and teaching experience at the tertiary education level. 

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in August 2019 or January 2020. 

Position and Remuneration
Remuneration and appointment rank offered will be competitive and commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification, current position and professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions.
