The University of New England in Armidale, Australia is a regionally based, globally networked university that provides outstanding education to approximately 22,000 students (80% who are distance/online learners) and engages in exceptional fundamental and applied research. The University underwent a restructure in 2018 and is now in a period of strengthening the quality of its research and education offerings. The School of Education and UNE is known for its focus on early childhood, primary and secondary school teacher education across a suite of undergraduate and postgraduate course offerings.

The Faculty of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education is now seeking a Head of School to lead the School of Education. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the shaping of the School’s future and success of its programs. The ideal candidate will have strategic leadership experience and preferably experience in the delivery of distance/online education and a knowledge of the challenges and opportunities it presents. The successful candidate will have an understanding of the current challenges facing the education sector, including teacher training and will have experience in external stakeholder engagement and facilitating collaborations. They will be innovative, decisive, open to new ideas and have demonstrable experience in building research capacity and inspiring teams.
