Research Assistant/Fellow, Responsive Access to Space

- Full Time, Fixed-Term Position until June 2021
- $89,000-$110,000 + 17% Superannuation (appointment level dependent on qualifications and experience)
You will be required to design, build and flight-test a vehicle propelled by a rotating detonation engine. The project aims to produce low cost, short notice and high availability sovereign space launch capability. Engine geometry, thermal management, fuel injection and flight test demonstrator vehicle integration are the critical topics requiring investigation.
Skills & Experience Required
You will have extensive practical experience in an engineering environment, with knowledge and skills including the ability to apply fluid dynamics, structural analysis, materials science, chemistry and CAD to the design process. You will have exceptional hands-on practical mechanical aptitude, and a strong understanding of conventional and additive manufacturing processes. Furthermore, the ability to meet tight deadlines in a high tempo research environment, and excellent technical report writing skills will be essential to your success in this role.
