UKDRI Laboratory Technician

Department :
Basic & Clinical Neuroscience

Dr Sarah Mizielinska and Dr Marc-David Ruepp are seeking to appoint an organised and enthusiastic, full-time research technician to support their research teams. This position will involve significant work in cell/stem cell culture and thus requires consistency and attention to detail, as well as a willingness for occasional weekend work. The post-holder will also provide support for general organisational and technical duties to allow the smooth and efficient running of these two research groups.

The Mizielinska and Ruepp groups are based within the UK Dementia Research Institute (DRI) which is embedded within the Department of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience at King's College London (www.kcl.ac.uk/ioppn/depts/bcn/dri/lab-groups). The DRI is a national consortium focused on cutting-edge dementia research funded by the Medical Research Council, Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer's Research UK (www.ukdri.co.uk).

Dr Marc-David Ruepp's group focuses on RNA metabolism in health and disease, and Dr Sarah Mizielinska's group focuses on nucleocytoplasmic transport dysfunction. The two groups share a common interest in frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This position will provide valuable technical and research support, contributing to the productivity of these groups in understanding neurobiology and neurodegenerative disease in order to find effective therapeutic strategies.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 2 years.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent

The selection process will include a panel interview.
