Senior Systems Architect

Department :
Biomed Eng & Imaging Sci School Office

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic systems or enterprise architect with knowledge of infrastructure architectures for big data analytics, hybrid cloud, networking, security, software development best practices, and complex, large-scale projects to join the The London Medical Imaging & Artificial Intelligence Centre for Value-Based Healthcare (AI4VBH) within an internationally leading university research School.

The aim of the project is to design, implement and deploy an “AI-Enabled Hospital” infrastructure and associated platform within three NHS Trusts (GSTT, KCH, SLaM), to enable in-hospital at-scale data collection, harmonisation and actionable analytics. This platform will be developed in collaboration with NHS Trusts' IT and Scientific Computing teams, and industry partners such as IBM, NVidia and Owkin.

Overall, the systems architect role will be responsible for designing and developing a high-quality data collection, harmonisation and analytics platform, ensuring systems and solutions meet both the business & technical requirements of the AI4VBH centre and associated NHS Trusts. The initial solution design will involve a thorough review of the project requirements to date, an evaluation of various technologies, open source and proprietary software, and the creation of a set of blueprints, cookbooks and implementation guides for project teams to follow. This process should result in a series of architectures that could be taken forward to ensure best value (and a choice of vendors) for individual NHS Trusts.

The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in computer science or a closely related field. They will be able to demonstrate good architectural, algorithmic, systems and software development skills. They will also be able to demonstrate strong experience in building data-collection, harmonisation and analytics infrastructure. Working knowledge of how to deploy machine learning algorithms and classical business intelligence tools would be useful.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 2.5 years.
This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.
The selection process will include a panel interview, an assessment, a presentation.
