Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is currently recruiting for a full time Registered Nurse to join the Health Services Team. This is a 12-month first shift position and work hours are between 8am-6pm Monday - Friday with an occasional weekend day. The mission of the college health nurse is to enhance students’ higher education experience by modifying and removing health-related barriers to learning to make informed decisions about health related concerns and empowering students to be self-directed and well-informed consumers of health services.
Application of the nursing process are as follows:
Assessment:
The nurse will use evidence-based nursing to collect subjective and objective data about a patient to identify patient’s problems, risks and outcomes for enhancing health. Identify heath related barriers to learning

Diagnosis:
The nursing diagnosis is based on data obtained during the nursing assessment

Outcomes/Planning:
The nurse will prioritize nursing diagnoses according to severity and potential for causing serious harm. For each problem a measurable goal/outcome is then set. For each goal/outcome, the nurse selects nursing interventions that will help achieve the desired goal or outcome

Implementation:
The nurse will implement the plan of care and perform the determined interventions that were identified to help meet the goals/outcomes. Some tasks may be delegated to other individuals involved in the patient’s care

Evaluation:
The nurse will evaluate the patient’s progress toward achieving the goal/outcomes

Other responsibilities:
Engagement in evidence-based nursing practice
Understanding and complying with state licensure laws
Incorporation of self-care, health promotion, disease prevention and wellness theories
Promotion of patient rights and responsibilities
Complying with HIPAA and FERPA, privacy, and confidentiality requirements
Leveraging campus community services
Application of the principles of team building and consensus building skills
Use of active communication skills
Effective public speaking skills
Collaborate with campus professionals to facilitate programs that promote student and employee wellness
Knowledgeable on the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) to make informed decisions regarding the grounding and release of ill or injured flight students.
Responsible for documenting in electronic medical records (EMR) and in the flight line’s software program (ETA)

Required Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Nursing
Minimum of 5 years previous hospital, clinic or physician practice experience is required; will consider substituting a bachelor's degree for some of the experience
Must currently be licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Florida
Must also possess a basic life support certification
Understand healthcare systems and integration of new information and methodologies into current practice
Application of ethical principles and codes of professional practice as established by the Nurse Practice Act of Florida and relevant laws and regulations
