A Research Specialist position is available within the Jurado lab at the University of Pennsylvania! The Jurado lab studies mechanisms of disease pathogenesis of emerging viral pathogens using in vitro and in vivo models. A successful candidate will support ongoing research within a supportive environment with the opportunity to directly contribute to research projects. Major skill sets required are excellent written and verbal communication, self-mediated drive, and a proactive approach to daily tasks. Further, candidate qualities should include a strong motivation to learn, tendency to pay exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to multitask. Previous laboratory research experience and/or work with handling laboratory animals is highly preferred, but not required. Techniques that will be commonly used within the position will include cell tissue culture, nucleic acid manipulation and analysis, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, viral production and infection assays and procedures. In addition to performing experiments and analyzing data, the research technician will be expected to participate in laboratory meetings, study scientific literature and perform general lab duties.

Bachelors Degree and 0 to 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
