Funded by Water for our Environment Economy and Society (SC5-12-2018: EU-India water co-operation) programme, we are seeking a social scientist to work as a Postdoctoral Researcher on the PANIWATER Programme. The successful candidate will be based in Maynooth University, but may need to make some field trips to India. The main tasks (two years full time) relate to carrying out, reporting and mapping a survey on the socio-economic context of water use, needs and vulnerability in the Indian context with a social science team and our partners in New Delhi, Development Alternatives (DEVALT). In addition, report writing, synthesising secondary data on conflict, gender, class relations and multi-level governance structures as they pertain to water resource management is also required. Applications are invited from researchers with doctoral level quantitative research skills, with an interest in sustainable development, governance and gender, and with some experience of working with an interdisciplinary team.

Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale: €37,222 - €37,757 per annum (2 points)

Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.

*New entrants to the public sector will be appointed on the first point of the above scale.
