We are seeking an associate research scholar for the Meggers lab at the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment. The CHAOS Lab (Cooling and Heating for Architecturally Optimized Systems) is an interdisciplinary lab conducting research at the intersection of the School of Architecture and the Andlinger Center. The lab brings together researchers with interest in the flow of energy and entropy and how their quantification through exergy analysis can help optimize building systems.

The Associate Research Scholar will conduct research in two primary areas: (i) investigate organic and inorganic materials for moisture control in the built environment and water harvesting, and (ii) investigate chemical and physical characteristics of new materials for thermal applications (heating-cooling) in the built environment. This position will also provide support in scientific publications, proposal development and mentorship of lab members. A Ph.D. in materials science or related engineering field is required. Applicants should have experience working in science or technology related to the built environment.

Experience in materials science or chemical engineering, with focus in nanomaterials, preferred. Knowledge of thermal applications in the built environment and application to energy and the environment. This appointment is for one year, with possible renewal based on funding and performance.
