 UOW’s National Institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia (NIASRA) undertakes fundamental research, industry focused and contract research, major consulting projects and professional education in Applied Statistics. Its research involves developing and applying innovative computationally intensive statistical and analytical methods to important problems often involving big data in areas such as environmental informatics, remote sensing, survey methodology, and bioinformatics.

The position of IT Technical Officer is primarily responsible for the management, maintenance, and technical support of NIASRA’s high performance computing infrastructure, statistical and general software needs, big databases, and the NIASRA webpage. General IT technical support will also be provided to the School of Mathematics and Applied Statistics, to ensure that staff have access to appropriate hardware, infrastructure, and applications for research activities.
