About the opportunity 

The Senior Lecturer Educational Development will have a leading role in a new faculty strategic initiative that will transform the student experience in core units for our internationally regarded undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Commerce.  Addressing the challenges of teaching and learning at scale, this project will be the central hub for strategic pedagogical change, working with academic staff, professional staff support teams, students and the wider University to ensure the successful delivery of this initiative.

The successful candidate will work closely with the faculty, senior leadership and other members of the team to effectively co-ordinate and implement complex educational change projects.  They will design teaching and learning enhancements, curriculum innovation, staff training, academic reward and community engagement initiatives to better support the ongoing development of our teaching and learning community. They will provide leadership for the successful evaluation of the projects including supporting rigorous pedagogical and evaluative research and the dissemination of these findings to the School, the University and the wider sector.

‘Education focused’ roles are a specialised category of academic engagement reserved for talented educators with a passion for, and demonstrated excellence in, pedagogical practice and design. A Senior Lecturer (Education focused) is expected to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation within the School and will be on a trajectory towards leadership in educational design and delivery. A Senior Lecturer (Education focused) is expected to dedicate the majority of their contribution to education (up to 70% - or 80% by mutual agreement - of their academic workload allocation).

• is acknowledged as influential in expanding knowledge in pedagogy or curriculum innovation
• has demonstrated excellence in research or scholarly activities relevant to educational design, development and practice
• has deep and broad experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by leading team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings
• has demonstrated applied understanding of contemporary pedagogical practices in the discipline of educational development
• has demonstrated success in supporting the academic endeavor from curriculum design to engaging in research/scholarship and providing a student enabling environment
• has experience in or the capacity to supervise others and coordinate team activities
• has a demonstrated capacity to lead educational development activities to successful outcomes.
