Tenure-track Clinical Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Respiratory Medicine

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Clinical Professor/Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Assistant Professor in Respiratory Medicine in the Department of Medicine (Ref.: 494194), to commence as soon as possible, on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second four-year fixed-term contract.

Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, and a higher professional qualification of Specialty Fellowship of the relevant Hong Kong college under the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine or equivalent.

For the level of Clinical Professor/Clinical Associate Professor, applicants should have an established international reputation in the medical field. They should demonstrate outstanding accomplishments in teaching and curriculum development, and a strong commitment to excellence in organizing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. A distinguished record of research, substantial achievements in research publications and an excellent track record of successful grant applications are expected.  Applicants should have extensive experience and expertise in managing patients with acute and chronic medical problems in respiratory medicine.  The appointee is expected to supervise junior doctors, and to deliver clinical service and patient care at the University’s teaching hospitals. For the level of Clinical Assistant Professor, applicants should have demonstrated accomplishment in teaching of medical undergraduates, and organization and development of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.  An established research record, substantial achievements in research publications and a track record of successful grant applications are expected. Applicants should have extensive experience in managing patients with acute and chronic medical problems in respiratory medicine. The appointee is expected to deliver clinical service and patient care at the University’s teaching hospitals. For all levels, direct communication with patients is required and the languages employed are English, Cantonese and Putonghua.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. A monthly cash allowance will be offered to the successful candidate. Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
