Postdoctoral Research Position in Computational Materials Science
The Center for Energy Science and Technology at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) in Moscow, invites applications for a postdoctoral research position to work with prof. Xavier Gonze on the effects of electron-vibration interaction: supraconductivity (e.g. under high-pressure), carrier mobility, polaron formation, thermoelectricity, photoluminescence … and will involve code developments in the frame of the international ABINIT project (www.abinit.org). Prof. Gonze has a very large network of international collaborators either contributing to ABINIT or within the European Theoretical Spectroscopy facility (www.etsf.eu). Synergies with other Skoltech faculty members as well as with the Gonze group at UCLouvain, Belgium (perso.uclouvain.be/xavier.gonze) are expected.
Suitable applicants should hold (or be about to receive) a master’s degree in Physics, Materials Science, or a related area. Good knowledge of quantum mechanics is expected. Candidates who have interest in writing computer code are preferred. The knowledge of English is required, knowledge of Russian is NOT a requirement. The position is open to both young PhD graduates and experienced researchers.
The starting date is negotiable, but the successful applicant should start no later than 1 November 2019.
The postdoctoral position is a one-year contract, renewable upon availability of funds. The salary is competitive on the international level, and commensurate with experience, qualifications and previous publication record. Excellent travel and computing support will also be provided. Benefits include a medical insurance and a relocation package for applicants who are not resident of the Moscow region.
