As it prepares to launch a new visual identity across its physical spaces, print and electronic collateral – complementing its transformed physical spaces, the Penn Museum seeks a full-time graphic designer to assist the Art Director and Associate Director of Leadership and Membership Communications in the application of the new brand across all collateral: print and electronic materials, and physical spaces. Under the supervision of the Art Director, the Graphic Designer will be responsible for design of materials utilized by departments across the Museum, including flyers, postcards, simple event invitations, advertisements, and office stationary including letterhead, business cards, and so on. He/she may also assist the Art Director in design work on larger projects. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, Leadership and Membership Communications, the Graphic Designer will be responsible for populating content of the Museum’s flagship members’ magazine, Expedition, including sourcing supplemental images, photo retouching and final image processing, adjusting final page layouts and coordination with printer; he/she will also be responsible for application of the new brand to fundraising materials including membership brochures and stationary, campaign collateral materials and fundraising proposals. This is a one-year, full-time position, with renewal subject to available funding.
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic, Communication Design, or related field with 1 to 3 years of experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability required in designing for print and multimedia applications (ads, brochures, publications, flyers, postcards, website graphics, social media graphics, etc.) with proficiency working in the Macintosh platform and a good working knowledge of the latest versions of the Adobe Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Candidate must be organized and detail-oriented with excellent typography skills and an ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple projects at once. Experience quoting and managing print jobs as well as working with vendors is preferred.
