The University of Bristol seeks to appoint an outstanding academic leader as the Head of its new School of Management, which is being created from the re-organisation of the current School of Economics, Finance and Management.

This is an exciting moment to join Management at Bristol as it transitions from a growing Department of over 60 academic staff to a School of Management and moves to the University’s new Temple Quarter campus from 2022.  The creation of the new School provides an opportunity to build a much stronger identity for Bristol Management externally and will allow the School to realise its strategy to become a distinctive new School of Management – embedded in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law and based on a social science ethos.

As Head of School, you will occupy a key academic leadership position within the University.  Reporting to the Faculty Dean, you will lead and manage the academic business of the School in relation both to strategy and operations.

Candidates will have outstanding leadership credentials and a track record of excellence in research and research-led education.  An open and inclusive approach towards academic and professional service colleagues is a key requirement of the role, as is the ability to develop partnerships and to promote knowledge exchange.  A deep commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion is essential.

The appointment as Head of School will be for four years, subject to renewal, and will go hand in hand with an open-ended full-time professorial position.

This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of Management at a pioneering, Russell Group University in a creative, culturally vibrant city that was named the best city to live in by The Sunday Times in its ‘Best Places to Live Guide 2017’.

Closing date: noon on Friday 24th May 2019.

We appreciate and value difference, seeking to attract, develop and retain a diverse mix of talented people that will contribute to the overall success of Bristol and help maintain our position as one of the world’s leading universities.
