The King's Centre for Military Health Research (KCMHR) is seeking to appoint a full time Research Assistant with a backgrou0- nd in qualitative research to work on a study of employment trajectories in UK veterans. Thousands of military personnel leave the Armed Forces each year; some will go on to do well in the civilian labour market, while others will find their situation worsen. This study will investigate how and why different socioeconomic trajectories arise, with a particular focus on the role of mental health, using a mixed methods approach. 

The post holder will, with supervision and guidance, be responsible for the qualitative aspects of this study, involving obtaining ethics, developing the interview schedule, recruiting and interviewing participants, qualitative analyses, writing up the findings for scientific publication, and contributing to reports for the funding body. The successful candidate will have a relevant MSc, and experience of conducting interviews and analysing qualitative data using NVivo or similar. They will have excellent communication and organisational skills, experience of writing reports and be willing to learn new skills. 

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 15 months. 

This is a full-time post - 35 hours, 100% full time equivalent. 

The selection process will include a panel interview and a presentation. Interviews will be held on Friday 24th May.
