Job Summary

Assist in the design, implementation, and testing of an autonomous surface vehicle (ASV) system to enable high resolution spatio-temporal mapping of river bathymetry, current flow, and other transportation processes to improve technology for river modeling and flood hazard.

Job Duties

  • Perform engineering analyses of vehicle and sensor characteristics to carry out desired scientific tasks
  • Write software to control an ASV using open source developments such as ROS
  • Participate in tests to collect data in laboratory environments and in the field
  • Write algorithms to analyze data collected by the vehicle
  • Participate in discussions with the science team regarding vehicle and sensor characteristics, system performance, and data processing
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with ROS or similar open source operating system
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, and C programming languages
