Position overview

The Research School of Chemistry was founded in 1967. It currently divides its research into four themes; Biological chemistry, Inorganic chemistry, Organic chemistry and Physical & Theoretical chemistry, and hosts 47 academic and 34 professional staff members and more than 800 undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be located within the Biomolecular NMR Spectroscopy Group, Biological Chemistry within the Research School of Chemistry and contribute to Professor Gottfried Otting’s ARC Laureate project.

The successful candidate will take part in the research to develop methods for determining the conformational space of proteins in solution by the use of site-specific chemical and isotope tags and pseudocontact shifts that are generated by paramagnetic lanthanide tags. Targets include inter-domain motions, conformational heterogeneity of amino acid side-chains, and conformational changes associated with enzyme function and formation of protein-ligand complexes.

The Postdoctoral Fellow must have PhD or previous postdoctoral training in the field of protein NMR spectroscopy and/or experimental protein structural biology, evidenced by a track record of publications.
