SOFTWARE ENGINEER, DISCOVERY TEAMedX, to join a team that is responsible for scaling and building out a new discovery platform for edX learners. Responsibilities include designing, developing, deploying, and supporting scalable software systems; collaborating with the Product Management, UX, and Data Science areas to understand business problems and identify solutions; building and maintaining operationally viable solutions throughout the software life cycle; committing to owning code and supporting the customer facing environment; promoting teamwork, researching cutting edge technology, and supporting a vibrant innovative work atmosphere; and supporting the open source community.  

EdX is an open source educational software startup venture between MIT and Harvard.  The team is building the world's leading learning destination site and platform so that everyone around the world has the opportunity and access to education.  

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  at least three years of full-stack development experience with HTML, CSS, modern JavaScript frameworks, and Python or other server-based programming languages; demonstrated skill building service-oriented architectures; ability to problem solve and drive projects with loosely defined requirements; and experience working in an agile development environment.  Familiarity with Open Source Frameworks and with compliant front-end development standards and accessibility best practices preferred.  Experience with React or Webpack, building static websites and single-page applications, developing REST APIs, and test-driven development (TDD) desirable; as is real-world experience with web service development frameworks like Django.  A B.S. in computer science is also preferred.  Job #17365-P
