Masters by Research Scholarship in Social Work with CISVic, Doncare and South East Community Links(SECL)

About the Masters by Research Scholarship

This project will examine the effectiveness, capacity building potential, and learning experience of the Student Placement Pilot Project (SPPP) delivered at CISVic and community agencies including Doncare and SECL in relation to emergency relief and community support.

This scholarship is for research into the Student Placement Pilot Project. Learnings will be used to develop and refine this practice model for student placements and to build capacity in the emergency relief and community support sector. This scholarship will appeal to social work trained students who wish to extend their career and to do so in ways that are both industry engaged and built on a strong evidence base.

Working in close partnership with staff from each organisation, the appointed candidate will have a unique opportunity to carry out research on a student placement model and to use the findings of this research to develop and refine a flexible model that has real and ongoing value for community agencies and community members.

The scholarship will be based within the social work department in collaboration with the Future Social Service Institute. Supervision will be provided from the university and CISVic and will be supported by a reference group which will provide feedback, insights and advice at key points. Research activities will include a literature review, examination of existing data and documentation, and in-depth interviews/focus groups.
