The Institute for Communication Systems (ICS) is seeking to appoint an Institute Manager and PA to The Institute Director.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the operational management and delivery of a range of projects, delivered through the Institute of Communication Systems (ICS) which includes the 5G Innovation Centre (5GIC). They will also manage and oversee resource allocation to ensure the smooth running of the ICS/5GIC including timely reports to stakeholders and Director of ICS. This includes overseeing the co-ordination of international conferences and workshops, as well as facilities management, administrative and support activities within the Institute. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide a high level of administrative support and personal assistance to the Director of ICS/5GIC and to manage the support staff team including the finance administrator, PhD administrator, visiting staff from academia and industry.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate experience of planning and progressing work activities within general guidelines, using initiative and judgement without reference to others.

Good working knowledge of MS office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is essential.

Thorough knowledge and understanding of the work practices, processes and procedures relevant to the role, which may include broader sector/commercial awareness is essential.

About ICS/5GIC:

ICS, the Home of 5GIC, is the largest academic research institute in Europe specialising in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and is a major participant in European Union Horizon 2020 programme, and many industrial and UK National projects. The Institute has major collaborations in India, China, Korea, Japan and USA as well as several links in the communications industry.

5GIC is the world’s first innovation centre which was established in 2012 through UK Government grant and industrial membership. It has developed a unique and campus-wide testbed for research and innovation of 5G technologies and applications in a real-world environment. 5GIC has been hosting many VIP visits from all over the world for firsthand experience of 5G.
