We are seeking an excellent academic to join our staff as a Lecturer in the field of Nature/Society relations. Recognising that the mutual constitution of Nature and Society is at the heart of many questions central both to academic Geography and to public debate more generally, we seek a scholar who will interrogate these matters from both theoretical and practical angles. This scholar might have specialist interest in any one of several fields including Health Geographies, Geopolitics, Environmental Politics, and Spatial Justice. They would be well placed to take up the grand challenges identified by the European Union, several of which, including health, food security, green transport and climate action, are readily approached through the study of nature-society relations. They would also be well able to address some of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, which likewise identify nature-society in their focus upon hunger, health, clean water, sustainable cities, responsible consumption and climate action, among other areas of concern. In these ways the person will contribute to meeting the aspirations of Maynooth University, which, in its Strategic Plan for 2018-22, calls for engaged research in these areas identified by the EU and UN. The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. He/she will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching programme of the Department and undertake teaching duties on the Department's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as the supervision of Master's and PhD students.

Lecturer Salary Scale: €52,326 - €82,267 per annum (7 points)
