The Department of Health Policy and Management is the largest department in the Milken Institute School of Public Health, with over 100 faculty and staff. The Department, which focuses on health care, public health policy and management, offers several graduate degrees and a very large research portfolio. The Department has 2 locations: On campus (950 New Hampshire Avenue, 2nd and 6th floor, Washington DC 20052) and off campus (2175K Street Suite 500, Washington DC 20037). This position will be located off campus at 2175K Street Suite 500.

The purpose of this position is to provide general administrative support to and on behalf of an academic program or initiative. This role will serve as a point of contact for the program, will answer typical program questions, and will assist the program staff with a variety of functional and administrative support. Support could include answering routine and complex inquiries, enrollment assistance, updating websites and list-servs, planning and executing events, scheduling rooms, ordering equipment, processing payments, data entry, preparing reports, and similar duties. Often these roles are tasked with outreach to other GW stakeholders in order to assist in maintaining standard operational efficiencies. Typical duties often are administrative in nature including tasks that are routine, and under the general supervision of more senior personnel within the department, or program.

The Department of Health Policy and Management is looking for a highly motivated Program Coordinator who will coordinate and support all activities of the Geiger Gibson and Health Policy Research Scholars Programs within the Department of Health Policy and Management. The incumbent will coordinate the logistics of the Geiger Gibson Program in Community Health Policy and RWJF Health Policy Research Scholars programs, including communicating with participants, updating websites and/or partnering with collaborating organizations’ regarding their social media accounts, developing/proofreading materials, AND coordinating events.

The incumbent will serve as a point of contact for both programs, will answer typical program questions, and will assist the program staff with a variety of functional and administrative support. Support could include answering routine and complex inquiries, enrollment assistance, updating websites and list-servs, planning and executing events, scheduling rooms, ordering equipment, processing payments, data entry, preparing reports, and similar duties. This position will report directly to the Geiger Gibson Academic Program Director in the Department of Health Policy and Management.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide logistical support to the Geiger Gibson Health Policy Fellows Program for multiple cohorts of out-of-town fellows including email, phone, and in-person communications with participants and speakers, assisting in the development of agendas and program materials, coordination of events and keeping team on track, ensuring space for fellowship programs, ordering food and beverages for programs, tracking participant needs, compiling evaluations, staffing fellows meetings, and similar tasks as assigned.
  • Coordinate the GG Emerging Leaders Award by updating website application, tracking and sorting applications, setting meetings for awardee selections, developing materials for awards, coordinating with awardees and conference hosts, and similar tasks as assigned.
  • Provide logisitcal support for GG Distinguished Visitors Program by coordinating events and speaking engagements, as well as visitor travel.
  • Provide logistical support to the RWJF Health Policy Research Program.
  • Coordinate scholars travel, events, data entry, reimbursements, update programs databases and trackers, process travel expenditures, assist in coordinating special projects as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
