Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Construction & Real Estate Economics (Ref. 19041602) 

The Department of Building and Real Estate is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Construction and Environment. The Department offers a full range of programmes leading to the awards of Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy, Master of Science and Bachelor of Science. It has an undergraduate student body of over 750 full-time students and over 170 part-time students, and a postgraduate student body of over 300. The Department currently has a total of 25 full-time academic staff, 23 technical and administrative staff and over 100 research personnel. The Department is looking for enthusiastic, established and suitably qualified person with a PhD degree to join the Department to take part in a number of teaching and research activities.

The appointee will be required to (a) undertake teaching duties at various levels in the area of Construction and Real Estate Economics which covers, but not limited to Finance, Economics and Measurement; (b) supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and theses; (c) conduct research in related areas and contribute to the development of the Department’s research strengths; (d) initiate, lead and participate in scholarly research in their areas of expertise and be active in research leading to quality journal publications and in bidding for external research grants and applied research projects; (e) engage in programme/curriculum planning, development and administration; (f) undertake relevant administrative duties; and (g) undertake any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.

Applicants should (a) have a PhD degree in a related discipline; (b) have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research; (c) have a proven record in research and scholarship; and (d) be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills and have good interpersonal skills.  Preference will be given to those with a demonstrated track record and expertise in research.  Applicants should state clearly the rank they apply for.  Applicants for appointment at Associate Professor level should have substantial years of relevant post-qualification experience and an excellent record of relevant academic and research achievement.  

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
