Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor (RAP)/Post-doctoral Fellow (PDF) in Environmental Gerontology in the Sau Po Centre on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 495473) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year temporary basis for PDF, or on a two-year fixed-term basis for RAP, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Social Sciences, Sociology, Architecture, Urban Studies, Urban Planning or a related discipline.  They should demonstrate strong competency in qualitative and quantitative data analysis and have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.  Those with post-doctoral research experience, especially a strong background in gerontology research and an excellent track record of publications are preferred.  The appointee will conduct research projects to understand how physical and social environments shape the physical, psychosocial and cognitive health outcomes of elderly people across lifespan.

A PDF is expected to devote full-time to research.  While the focus of a RAP should be on research, some teaching duties in postgraduate or undergraduate programmes may be assigned.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The RAP appointment on fixed-term will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
