The Centre for Applied Health Economics (CAHE) was established in 2008, within the School of Medicine, and is based at the Nathan campus. The Centre currently employs 30 staff on contract research projects, fellowships and research grants, and has a number of affiliated HDR students. The Centre is self-funded with an emphasis on teamwork with several strong research themes in health economics, including economic evaluation, measurement of health outcomes, and priority setting. This research has attracted multiple research grants from national bodies (eg the ARC and NHMRC). Staff in the Centre are also associated with one or more of the research programs within Griffith University's Menzies Health Institute Queensland (MHIQ).
The primary role for this position will be to provide high level expertise in health technology assessment (HTA) of health care interventions. The incumbent will be a key member of the contract research team in the CAHE undertaking evaluation of industry submissions of new technologies for listing on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and the Medical Benefits Schedule. The position also includes traditional academic research that meets the strategic goals of the Centre.
There are two full time , fixed term (3 year) positions available based at the Nathan campus.
This position will suit a graduate in health economics or person already working in research but wishes to apply their knowledge and expertise directly into health policy decisions. The position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to health technology assessment expertise within the CAHE that has direct impact on health policy within Australia while also encouraging traditional academic research by developing a research program of interest to the appointee. The role will suit someone with strong quantitative skills and experience in systematic review, meta-analysis and/or cost-effectiveness analysis, supervision of research staff, participation in grant applications and tenders.
The incumbent will have research interests in public health, epidemiology, health services research or health economics aligned with the Centre's strategic objectives. Relevant undergraduate degree in Pharmacy, or other clinical discipline will be beneficial. A PhD or equivalent industry experience is required for appointment at Grade 2.
- Research Fellow, Grade 1 - $73,791 - $86,579 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $86,336 - $101,299 per annum.
- Research Fellow, Grade 2 - $94,361 - $112,057 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $110,403 - $131,108 per annum.
