Research at GTP requires knowledge of multiple scientific disciplines including molecular and cell biology, protein biochemistry, virology, immunology, bioinformatics, and biotechnology. Our major goals are to increase scientific knowledge in gene therapy field through the use of experiments, and help develop new life-saving treatments. Research performed at GTP ranges from basic research to development of platform technologies to development of the vector manufacturing methods to conducting pre-clinical research. Our research is carried out using cell and animal models.

Research Specialist will be involved in planning, conducting and analyzing experiments aimed at development of new gene therapy methods & applications. Research Specialist will provide technical support to enable our laboratory to function effectively and will adhere to standard procedures and guidelines. May perform sample collections, testing, measuring, recording and analyzing of results. Research Specialist will carry out experiments under the management of a supervising scientist to allow senior scientific personnel to concentrate on the more complex analytical processes in the laboratory.

Research Specialist C is expected to keep abreast of the work of other scientists within GTP and in the wider scientific community. Research Specialist C is expected to keep up to date with external research carried out in their field of study. The Research Specialist C will be involved in experimental design and standard protocol development; perform initial data assessment.

B.A./B.S. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or in adjacent field with strong scientific background and 3-5 years of post-degree bench laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required

Experience with Molecular Biology and Biochemistry techniques/assays (cloning, isolations, PCR, ELISA, animal/colony handling/maintenance, and dissection) a must!

Must be willing to learn new techniques involving molecular and cell biology, protein biochemistry, virology, immunology, bioinformatics, and biotechnology.

Must have the ability to follow existing and ability to develop novel protocols and methods

Outstanding interpersonal interaction skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, problem recognition and solving, and organizational skills required

Prior experience in the field of gene therapy is desirable.
