The School of Computing Sciences is on a major trajectory for growth in terms of new course developments as well as national and international research collaborations with distinguished institutions and industrial partners.  In recognition of the unprecedented growth and demand for Computer Scientists and the importance of the area to the UK economy, UEA is also in the process of planning for a future purpose-designed building to host the School of Computing Sciences, its teaching facilities and research groups.

We manage a range of Undergraduate and Post Graduate Taught Programmes in Computer Science, with key topics such as Software Engineering, Data Science, Telecommunications and Cyber Security. AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Systems Engineering are involved.

Across our research groups we have interests and activities in areas such as Graphics, Vision and Speech; Colour; Computational Biology; Statistics & Data Science; Machine Learning & AI; Cloud/Edge Computing and IoT, Cyber Security and Autonomous Systems.

We have three Lectureship positions available immediately within our highly regarded School of Computing Sciences. These positions will be on our Academic Teaching and Research (ATR) pathway which focuses on research and teaching with related innovations linked to Undergraduate and Post Graduate taught programme, PhD project supervision, generating high quality peer-reviewed research publications and attracting grant income from external sources such as EPSRC.  One of these positions will be at Senior Lectureship level. 

For Lectureship level, you will be expected to have an excellent track record of teaching in a Higher Education environment in terms module management and delivery as well as innovations that contribute to the TEF priorities. You will be able to actively lead and contribute to teaching courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including core computer science material in areas such as advanced Java topics and Python, Databases and Big Data Management, Software Engineering, Information retrieval, Cloud Computing, Computer Networking, Cyber Security.  The appointee will also undertake supervision and advisory roles at both undergraduate and MSc and engage with a range of relevant administrative roles activities to support the School in support of our TEF Objectives and new course developments. 

For the Senior Lectureship, you will have the above experience and skills and in addition, demonstrable experience of effective research leadership over a sustained period and evidence of grant income and REF 3*/4* publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and successful supervision of PhD students to completion.   You will also have experience for potential mentoring of early-career academic research staff.

You will have a minimum of PhD (or equivalent experience) in Computing Science or cognate area, and be able to fulfil all essential elements of the person specification. The post is available with immediate effect on a full-time indefinite basis.
