Biobank Advanced Practitioner - Colorectal

Department : Comprehensive Cancer Centre

We are seeking to appoint a Biobank Advanced Practitioner (AP), with specific responsibility for supporting colorectal banking to join the expanding King's Health Partners Cancer Biobank and the Guy's & St Thomas NHS Trust Precision Medicine Strategy. The post is based in the Innovation Hub, Guy's Cancer Centre, which hosts an extensive collection of research materials used to support numerous cross-cutting reasearch activities. 
The ideal applicant for this exciting opportunity will hold a higher degree or equivalent and have practical histology or tissue sampling experience. A knowledge of molecular biology techniques would be an advantage. The candidate must have good organisational, recordkeeping and communication skills and a meticulous approach to their work.

The postholder will primarily oversee the collection, processing, cataloguing and storage of colorectal samples within the Biobank, they will also undertake the full diagnostic dissection and block selection from some types of specimen. Some training will be provided with evidence of competency gathered during the training period.

This post will be offered on an indefinite contract.
