About the position
We have a vacancy for a position as post doc affiliated with the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Faculty of Natural Sciences (NV), NTNU Norwegian University for Science and Technology.
The post doc will in addition to his/her research activity have a central role in the NTNU Battery initiative coordinating the battery research activities between NV/NTNU and the strategic research area NTNU Energy at NTNU.
Research activities in the Department cover electrochemical energy technology (batteries), functional materials and materials chemistry, nanomaterials, ceramics, corrosion, physical metallurgy and metallurgical and electrochemical process engineering.
Job description
This post doc position in battery technology is focused on development of functional materials and understanding of electrochemical and degradation phenomena for Li ion batteries. Extensive state-of-the-art infrastructure for materials and battery development and testing is established at the Department. The successful candidate is expected to develop a research profile in close collaboration with the present battery activities at the Department.
In addition, the candidate will have a coordinating role of the battery activities at NV/NTNU in close collaboration with the strategic research area NTNU Energy. The coordination will include providing information flow among groups working in the battery field, providing coordination help during establishment of larger research applications and facilitating initiatives with respect to sharing and developing infrastructure for battery research.
Qualification requirements
A postdoctoral research fellowships is a qualification position in which the main objective is qualification for work in academic positions. The applicants must hold a PhD in materials chemistry, materials science and technology, electrochemistry or similar. Candidates with documented expertise in development of functional materials for battery technology as well as electrochemical and degradation studies of batteries are desired. Experience in in-situ characterization techniques is considered an advantage.
The persons we are searching for have good oral and written communication skills. The candidates must provide evidence of the ability to publish scientific papers.

Salary and conditions
Postdoctoral candidates are remunerated in code 1352, and are normally remunerated at gross from NOK 515 200 before tax per year. From the salary, 2 % is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
The appointment has a duration of 2 years with the possibility of until 1 year extension with teaching duties in agreement with the department. (To undertake the teaching duties it is a requirement that the candidate speaks Norwegian or another Scandinavian language).
