RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATEKoch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Manalis Lab, to provide basic laboratory support for researchers working on a fast-paced interdisciplinary project aimed at measuring the biophysical properties of single cells. The project will entail careful consideration of study design, maintaining and debugging of instrumentation, data analysis, and communicating results to the lab.  Specific tasks will include operating, maintaining, and debugging scientific instrumentation; assisting with the preparation and culture of biological samples; using custom software tools to analyze, interpret, and summarize data; coordinating sample acquisition and preparation with coworkers and collaborators; updating and maintaining experiment data in laboratory databases; assisting with maintaining laboratory inventory; following safety standards and procedures; interfacing with MIT environmental health and safety personnel as needed; and ensuring biohazard waste disposal occurs following policies and procedures.  

The Manalis Lab specializes in precision measurement of single-cell mass and other biophysical properties to predict drug sensitivity. The position will offer an opportunity to gain experience--under close supervision--in these areas, with a specific focus in cancer biology. Will gain fundamental skills working in an interdisciplinary and technologically-driven environment and gain access to the intellectual resources present across all multiples labs at MIT. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  a high school diploma or its equivalent; full working knowledge of general laboratory practices, techniques, and procedures; strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; attention to detail; self-motivation; a commitment to producing high quality work; and the ability to follow safety standards and procedures and work both independently and as part of a team.  Job #17329-3
