The Stanford-Surgery Policy Improvement Research and Education (S-SPIRE) Unit is committed to:

 Our interdisciplinary team includes clinical and research faculty with expertise in implementation science, health economics, bioinformatics, and quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodologies. 

 We are seeking a highly motivated, hard-working, professional biostatistician to support clinical research activities of the Department’s faculty.  The successful candidate will provide consultative and analytical support to members of the department and work on a wide variety of collaborative projects. The incumbent will work closely with senior-level statisticians to ensure appropriate methods are applied.  This position will assist in development and completion of methodologically and statistically sound clinical and health services research.

 Duties include:

  • Design study.
  • Implement protocol for quality control.
  • Create analytic files with detailed documentation.
  • Implement data analysis through statistical programming.
  • Present results for investigators using graphs and tables.
  • Summarize findings orally and in written form.
  • Participate in the preparation of papers for publication.
  • Assist with grant preparation

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics or related field.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

  • Proficient in at least two of R, SAS, SPSS, or STATA.
  • Skills in descriptive analysis, modeling of data, and graphic interfaces.
  • Outstanding ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • 1 or more years of experience doing collaborative biostatistics and 2 years of experience manipulating large databases desirable. 
  • Previous work experience in an academic institution, or academic hospital setting preferred.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:

  • Frequently perform desk based computer tasks, seated work and use light/ fine grasping.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, and write by hand, lift, carry, push pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
