Applications are invited for an enthusiastic molecular cell biologist to take up a Graduate Research Assistant position in the School of Biological Sciences Department
With funding from Action for A-T (http://actionforat.org) we are exploring the feasibility of using genome editing as a therapeutic option for the inherited disease ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T). You will use CRISPR genome editing technology for the correction of selected mutations in the ATM gene, initially in cell lines and subsequently in human haematopoietic stem cells. You will join a dynamic laboratory at Royal Holloway, University of London, with interests in gene repair, gene and cell therapy (see http://agctlab.org) and part of the Centre of Gene and Cell Therapy (http://www.royalholloway.ac.uk/cgct).
Candidates must have a BSc in a relevant discipline, be highly motivated and have potential for independent work. A background in molecular cell biology and knowledge of genome editing are required. Experience in viral vector production would be an advantage. The position is funded for nine months in the first instance. You will be expected to work collaboratively and may have to work elsewhere in the UK or abroad for short periods. You will be expected to be a good communicator, computer literate generally, and ideally have some experience with molecular biology software.
