At TU Dresden, Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Institute of Semiconductors and Microsystems, the Chair of Microsystems offers, subject to resources being available, within the Group of Mesoscopic 3D Systems a position as 

Research Associate / PhD Student / Postdoc
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E13 TV-L) 

starting at 01.09.2019. The position is limited for 36 months for PhD Students; proportionally shorter for Postdocs. The period of employment is governed § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). Balancing family and career is an important issue. The post is basically suitable for candidates seeking part-time employment. 

Tasks:

  • optical design and simulation of diffractive and plasmonically active nanostructures,
  • large-are production of corresponding nanostructures on polymeric substrates,
  • development of new production concepts in the micro- and nanometer range in cooperation with the research partner,
  • design and construction of optical measuring setups for the dynamic and static spectral analysis of microscopic objects,
  • conceptual design and evaluation of microfluidic systems,
  • regular active participation in scientific events and conferences,
  • publication of scientific results. 

Requirements: university degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, physics or chemistry; interest in obtaining further academic qualification (e.g. PhD/habilitation thesis). We are looking for an expert in the interdisciplinary field of engineering and materials science who motivationally and confidently will realize our challenging project goals in cooperation with a renowned German research institute. Together, we will realize intelligent next-generation microscopic 3D systems.
