At TU Dresden, the Energy Lab at the Faculty of Computer Science offers, subject to resources being available, as soon as possible the position for a 

Research Associate
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L) 

The contract is initially limited until 31 December 2021. The period of employment is governed by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). 

Tasks: Sensors, mobile robots, and drones can be deployed in places which are inaccessible for humans. A combination of these entities can enable a safe, fast, seamless, and reliable deployment and monitoring. One of the purpose of deploying these entities can be to detect poisonous or highly volatile gases and bombs. They can be deployed to assess the extent of damage after a nature disaster or a manmade calamity. The research tasks in this project are to develop models, algorithms, and protocols in order to ensure that multiple drones and robots self-drive into foreign environments, self-organize, and deliver highly reliable information about their environment. 

The Research Associate is required to undertake the following tasks:

  1. Review existing models and motion estimation techniques. 
  2. Develop algorithms and models to combine uncertain evidence pertaining to motion
  3. Develop algorithms to enable self-drive and self-organization in complex environments.
  4. Deploy drones, robots, and wireless sensor networks.
  5. Test and validate models and algorithms.  

Requirements:  excellent university degree (Master, Diploma) in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mathematics, or statistics with very good English skills (spoken as well as written); capacity and readiness for independent, conceptual, and scientific research in team; interest in practical experiments and strong background in some of the following programing languages: Matlab, R, C, or C++; interest in further academic qualification.
