Postdoctoral Research Associate - Wolfson Centre For Age Related Diseases
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Department : Wolfson Centre For Age Related Diseases
We are recruiting to a postdoctoral position funded by Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp (MSD) as part of a joint project with Professor Peter McNaughton at King's College London. The overall aim of the project is to develop novel analgesic compounds that selectively block HCN2 ion channels (see Press Release).
This post is for a person experienced in patch clamp who can investigate the properties of some of our development compounds, such as selectivity over off-target channels and the mechanism by which the compounds block HCN2 ion channels. Both primary sensory neurons and HCN2 ion channels in expression systems will be investigated. The position will be collaborative between the McNaughton lab and MSD and will feed directly into the drug discovery program. Some aspects of the work may need to remain confidential until patent protection has been obtained.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant area of biological science and will have experience in areas relevant to the project, which may include some or all of patch clamp of ion channels, site-directed mutagenesis and heterologous expression. The appointee will work closely with one other postdoc working on the same project and with other members of the lab working on related projects. The successful candidate's appointment will be conditional upon receiving full clearance from an enhanced background check as per the terms of our contract with MSD.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 18 months.
This is a full-time post
The selection process will include a panel interview (which may be conducted by Skype) and a presentation.
To apply, please register with the King's College London application portal and complete your application online.
Grade and Salary : The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £37,412 to £44,015 per annum, inclusive of £3,223 per annum London Allowance.
