A research assistant is required to make a substantial contribution to the two laboratory-based research studies focussed on understanding mechanisms of preterm birth. Specifically, the postholder will bring expertise related to physiology/pharmacology or related bioscience and be able to work semi-independently taking delegated responsibility from the principle investigator.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, the postholder will be responsible for delivering the experimental data and analysis for a collaborative NIH funded study investigating the role the ion channel TRPV4 plays in regulating human uterine contractions. In addition, they will contribute to ongoing biomarker and in vitro cell studies studying infection and inflammation and risk of preterm birth. The post holder will be expected to lead on drafting reports, publications, abstracts and orally present at conferences.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 12 months
This is a full-time post
The selection process will include a panel interview and assessment and short presentation.
