The Information Security Group – which is a full department within the University – was formed in 1990 to provide an academic institution which understood and collaborated with government and industry. We host a dynamic inter-disciplinary group of academics and researchers focused on information/cyber security research and teaching. We are one of the largest dedicated departments in the world and have a strong, vibrant, embedded and successful multi-disciplinary research profile, and a strong ethos of working on real world security that encompasses, industry, standardisation, government and society.

We now wish to appoint an outstanding Chair who can further strengthen our research and teaching across the wide range of research undertaken by the department including cryptography (theory and applications), software and systems security, and social aspects of cyber security.
