A UK Top 25 University, Royal Holloway is a community that inspires individuals to succeed academically, socially and personally. With a rich history, yet constantly evolving and adapting to the demands of modern higher education, we have a proud record in computer science and are using our unique strengths in research and practice, our ambitious partnerships and our exciting geographical location in the heart of the creative industries in the UK to lead the way in the next age of digital creativity.

Ranked 19th in the UK for computer science, 11th for our research output and 4th for undergraduate employability, the Department of Computer Science is one of the oldest in the world. With world leading researchers in algorithms and complexity, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, distributed and global computing, machine learning, software language engineering and type theory, the theories we develop lead to practical computing systems and their application. Our next Head will inherit a department which has grown substantially in recent years yet maintains a strong sense of cohesion and a real willingness for interdisciplinary work.

We now wish to appoint an outstanding Head of Department in Computer Science to lead research, education, and interdisciplinary work at a key stage of our development as we further invest in our digital leaders and continue the recent growth in this successful department.
