Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Sustainable Development/Environmental Economics in the Department of Real Estate and Construction (Ref.: 494438), to commence on September 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

HKUrbanLab is the newly branded research arm of the Faculty of Architecture.  It draws together the research and outreach energies of scholars of architecture, conservation, construction management, housing, landscape, planning, real estate, surveying, transport, urban design, urban economics and urban studies.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in the relevant field and a track record of research related to sustainable development.  They should also have a demonstrated track record of or potential for contributing to the Department's and the Faculty's interdisciplinary research agenda which include, but not limited to, institutional analysis of built environment.  Undergraduate programs and Taught Masters programs offered by the Department are accredited by a number of international and local built environment professional bodies.  Experience in teaching and course administration of similar professionally accredited programs would be an advantage.  The appointee is expected to teach and lead courses related to sustainable development at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
