Department of People and Organisation

Location: Lincoln
Competitive Salary
Closing Date: Sunday 12 May 2019
Interview Date: Friday 31 May 2019

The University of Lincoln is rapidly developing a reputation for educational innovation and world class student experience, and is a leading exponent of the 21st Century Civic University.

The Lincoln International Business School (LIBS), one of the four University Colleges, is a globally-focused business school with around 2000 undergraduate and 600 postgraduate students. Our mission is to be in the leading position in a global network of learners, to be a recognised innovator in teaching and student engagement, and to be a leader of transformational change in society.

Across the LIBS academic portfolio, there is a golden thread that is embedded within all of the programmes which reflects the School’s underpinning philosophy of responsible leadership and management, reflected in its subscription to the United Nations’ Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME). Through this, LIBS students and graduates are encouraged to develop a strong ‘moral compass’ that will help them meet the challenges of a complex world.

LIBS has four subject specific departments. Each academic portfolio has an overarching theme which is reflected in their programme offers.

Due to the relocation of the current postholder, the College is seeking a new Head to lead the Department of People and Organisations. This department brings together research and teaching in individual, team and organisational behaviour. Areas of interest in this area include leadership, creativity, social psychology and human resource management. The focus of the department is to further our understanding of how individuals work together and are managed in diverse organisational settings.

The Head of Department is one of the most senior Academic roles in the University. As a member of the College Leadership Team and reporting to the Pro Vice Chancellor and Head of College, the Head of Department makes a substantial and vital contribution to the mission, strategy, and growth of the Business School.

The Head of Department’s contribution is first and foremost a leadership one, and is a driver of transformation, innovation, and high standards of student experience.

The Head sets the context for the Department’s work, by taking responsibility for:

  • Continuous improvement of an excellent student experience
  • Development, engagement, and growth of the faculty team and building an entrepreneurial and supportive working culture
  • Oversight and development of a successful and diverse portfolio of programmes and services to students and clients
  • Development of strategic partnerships in academia, business, and the public sector
  • Development of the Department’s research strategy and income generation
  • Diversification and innovation in the Department’s educational services, particularly at postgraduate and international level and through the innovative use of technology to enhance learning.

For a confidential conversation about the role, or to arrange an informal visit, you are very welcome to contact Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Craig Marsh on 01522 835601 or email cmarsh@lincoln.ac.uk.

Please submit a copy of your full Curriculum Vitae along with your application form.
