The School of Education at the University of Bristol is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Education. The Lecturer will make a contribution to our Education Studies undergraduate degree, which will welcome its third cohort of students in September 2019, while also contributing to teaching across other portfolios, like our Masters and Doctoral programmes.. This is a fantastic opportunity to take part in the curriculum design and implementation of a relatively new course at undergraduate level, working to provide a fulfilling experience for students. Our innovative BSc Education Studies, is research-informed interdisciplinary social sciences degree with a commitment to social justice.

The School is seeking to appoint an academic with recent experience of successfully delivering undergraduate studies in education, and with a keen interest in contributing to the programme’s development as an interdisciplinary social science degree. The post-holder will make a significant contribution to the undergraduate teaching in the School, and contribute to building an engaged community of undergraduate students. The successful candidate will need a broad knowledge base in the field of education and in depth in some areas, such as: sociology, cultural theory, philosophy, social history, research methods, education policy, comparative or international education.

The thriving research culture of the School will support your developing publications profile and research grant capture potential, and provide opportunities for you to teach across UG and PGT levels. We welcome applicants who have interests that complement our existing research strengths. Candidates who can clearly articulate how their research and teaching interrelate are of particular interest to us, as are those who bring methodological insights and are able to teach statistics and quantitative methods.

Closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 12 May 2019. It is expected that interviews will take place week commencing 27 May with a view to taking up the post in August 2019 at the latest.
