The University seeks to expand its research and teaching capabilities by appointing a Professor in Industrial Geophysics.
This position will significantly enhance existing research excellence in the School of Geosciences through high profile publications and high-impact research resourced from externally-funded projects including industrial funding. The aim is to build on existing geophysical and cross-disciplinary expertise in the School to address industry challenges. This is aligned with the University’s institutional commitment to directing its research profile towards interdisciplinary challenge-orientated research. Consequently, the successful candidate is likely to have a strong, established industrial orientation to their research.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding existing research profile in industrial geophysics with a commitment to publication in leading international scientific journals. The appointee will have a PhD in geophysics or a related area. They will have a commitment to further developing this through challenge-orientated research projects in collaboration with other staff in School of Geosciences and elsewhere in the University. The appointee’s research portfolio will have strong applied orientation to understanding and solving industry challenges and will be designed for delivering impactful research that is publicised through outreach activities. The appointee will be a team player able to lead large, complex interdisciplinary research projects.
