Position Overview

The Research School of Social Sciences (RSSS) at ANU  provides a dynamic research environment; it undertakes research and education across several disciplines to the highest international levels.  The School of History is  seeking applications for the appointment of an Historian who will take a leading role in the development of an exciting and innovative project to mark the seventy-five anniversary of the foundation of the university in 2021.  The University is seeking a history which reflects in engaging, creative ways the ANU's breadth of contributions, its distinctive role, and the communities with which it has been associated with since its foundation. 

The successful applicant will have a leading role in the research, development and production of a digital and print-based history of the Australian National University, to be completed by August 2021. They will work under supervision within the School of History, in consultation with an Advisory Committee, and with and archival and technical support to ensure the project provides a balanced and stimulating representation of the ANU’s development, and is presented in innovative, inclusive formats. The appointee will develop relationships across the ANU and extending into the university’s wider community to inform this project,  and will be expected to participate as appropriate throughout their employment in the academic life of the School of History.
