Lecturer in Science/Mathematics Education
We are seeking an excellent academic to join our staff as a Lecturer in Science Education whose research and experience focuses on Science and/or Mathematics Education curriculum and pedagogy at the post primary level. We particularly encourage applications from those whose research interests in Science and/or Mathematics Education are located in one or more of the following areas: curriculum studies, classroom pedagogy, and assessment.
The preferred candidate will be able to conduct innovative research in school-based contexts, and demonstrate a commitment to conducting national and international research and publishing in leading Science Education and/or Mathematics Education journals. The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. S/he will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching programme of the Department, undertake teaching duties on the Department's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the supervision of Master's and Doctoral students (both EdD and PhD) as well as conducting placement supervision. The appointee will also be able to work collaboratively in supporting the collegial work of the Department and to assume some administrative duties for the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Mathematics with Education programmes.
The appointee will be expected to build a strong research profile, that supports the University's research strategy including affiliating to the Research Institutes, where appropriate and working with colleagues on national and international research. The appointee will be expected to sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance and generate publications of international standard.
Lecturer Salary Scale: €52,849 - €83,090 p.a. (7 points)
Assistant Lecturer Salary Scale: €33,479 - €58,761 p.a. (14 points)
Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.
*New entrants to the public sector will be appointed on the first point of the above scale.
